The Schaumburg Business Association raises money annually at their Toast of Schaumburg event benefitting their Charitable Foundation. The proceeds of these funds are used to provide high school seniors with a scholarship to attend a college or university in the State of Illinois. The goal of the SBA’s Charitable Foundation is to work today to support tomorrow through educational scholarships and community services support. Contributions are dedicated to developing a skilled workforce and provide the learning support needed for leadership development. The SBA’s Charitable Foundation was created in 2014 and has awarded 19 scholarships.
This year the SBA Scholarship Committee has chosen six highly impressive, intelligent and driven students to award $2,500 each in scholarship. The recipients are Alvin Reji, Apoorva Bommaredy, Michael Parekh, Gabriela Iwanska, Oliver Mucka and Evelyn Barrios.
Alvin Reji is a recent graduate of Schaumburg High School. Alvin is a bright youngman who will be majoring in Accounting in the fall at Harper College in hopesto open an accounting firm or his own business one day. Apoorva Bommaredy is a recent graduate from James B. ConantHigh School. She is a motivated young woman who will be majoring in Finance aswell as a part of the GPP Medicine program at University Illinois of Chicago inhopes to become a doctor one day. Michael Parekh is a recent graduate of Fremd High School. He is a brilliant and inventive young man who will be majoring in Computer Science and Economics at University Illinois Champaign-Urbana in the Fall. Michael is determined to create his own business one day. GabrielaIwanksa is a recent graduate from James B. Conant High School. Gabriela is a hard working young woman who is excited to begin her fall semester at DePau lUniversity where she will major in Marketing with a focus in Consumer Behavior.Gabriel has dreams to create her own business one day. Oliver Mucka is a recentgraduate of Schaumburg High School. Oliver is a dedicated and hardworking youngman who will be attending the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in thefall where he is working diligently to get into the Business Program. Oliver aspires to own his own business one day. Evelyn Barrios recently graduated from Wauconda High School. She plans to attend DePaul University in the fall where she will major in Marketing with a minor in Communications and International Business. Evelyn is an ambitious young woman who has dreams to give back to her community.
