ROTARY GALA CELEBRATES DEDICATED SERVICE-FOCUSED
ROTARIANS ON MARCH 12, 2022
SCHAUMBURG, IL (March 1, 2022) – The ROTARY CLUB OF SCHAUMBURG-HOFFMAN ESTATES is rolling out the Red Carpet to welcome guests to their annual major fundraiser – The Classic – on March 12 at the Schaumburg Marriott. The Rotarian star-studded, Hollywood style gala will be hosted once again (but this time in person) by Natalie Martinez, NBC News Anchor, and Harper College’s President Dr. Avis Proctor will serve its as Honorary Chair.
Historically, this dinner/dance draws over 300 community attendees and features a grand prize drawing, entertainment by high-energy, upbeat Yazz Jazz, silent and live auctions, and a few surprises along the way. Although there won’t be any Dances With Wolves (1991 Best Picture), when The Sound of Music (1966 Best Picture ) begins to echo through the ballroom, everyone will be on their feet!
Event Chair Glenn Szurgot has many exciting things planned for this classy and action-packed evening that will showcase club members who have been awarded its top honor, Rotarian of the Year. Guests will stroll down the Walk of Fame and learn why these dedicated individuals earned the coveted award.
“Additionally, five cash prizes will be awarded including a grand prize of $10,000. To get in on the action, buy a dinner and/or grand prize drawing ticket at www.scherotary.org. This memorable event will not disappoint!” Glenn states with confidence. “You may not win an OSCAR, but those whom we serve will think of you in Terms of Endearment (1984 Best Picture).”
There will also be opportunities to bid on a plethora of Auction items, such as a Hilton Head condo package, Wisconsin escape, sports collectibles and experiences, restaurant gift cards, Chicago architectural walking tour, and theater tickets, among others.
“During the past 52 years, this very active service club has raised over $5 million for the Schaumburg/Hoffman Estate community (including $250,000 for the Women’s & Children’s wing of the St. Alexius Hospital and $100,000 for the Children’s Home + Aid Society’s Schaumburg location),” explained the club’s president Tom Gosche, “and contributed countless hours to hands-on projects while dedicating itself to:
 Empowering and healing abused children and preventing violence against children,
 Breaking the cycle of domestic violence,
 Building the foundation for a lifetime of learning for children born in high-risk environments,
 Providing outstanding recreation for children with disabilities,
 Educating, inspiring, and believing in children with Down Syndrome,
 Feeding hungry students to foster a quest for learning,
 Enabling older adults stay in their homes longer,
 Providing nutritious meals and fellowship to seniors, and
 Funding educational pursuits of older students who would otherwise be denied advanced studies,
in partnership with social service organizations such as Children’s Advocacy Center, Children’s Home + Aid Society, Northwest Special Recreation Association, GiGi’s Playhouse, Harper College, Consolidated Community School District 54, and High School District 211.”
Tom is proud that “money raised at the event goes directly back into our communities. Your donation will allow Ordinary People (1981) to brighten the lives of those who need us most. Don’t let this opportunity to make a difference be Gone With The Wind (1940).”
The dynamic and impactful Rotary Club of Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates meets every Friday at noon at Chandler’s Chophouse at the Schaumburg Golf Club. To learn more about the club, visit their website at www.scherotary.org.
