Schaumburg Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center Receives Gold Award
Schaumburg Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center has received a Gold Award for Excellence in Landscaping by the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA). Sites are judged by professionals in the industry and Gold Award is the highest possible honor.
Robert Lang, Head Engineer at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center commented, “The Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center is honored to be bestowed a Gold achievement award for our landscape and ecological awareness. The Village of Schaumburg strives to be the very best with respect to environmental concerns.
We follow three important guidelines: To be indigenous to our surrounding ecosystem, maintain an independent direction with what is important to the community, and to be intriguing to our customers as they discover new areas of Schaumburg during their stay. All these points of focus were guided by the Brickman Group’s site representative Curtis Riedell and the service team. Their dedication provided this opportunity for recognition for the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center.”
“Through this partnership and commitment towards landscape excellence, the citizens of Schaumburg benefit the most,” stated Village President Al Larson.
The landscaping incorporates 7.5 acres of ponds, wetlands, and prairie plantings. The native plantings help trap pollutants, clean storm water and reduce runoff. In designing the project, the village sought to limit the amount of turf grass and ornamental plantings. As the native plantings have taken hold and established themselves, the use of herbicides has been cut approximately in half and the maintenance hours reduced by one third. Water use has also been minimized; used only in the limited turf grass and annual flower areas. Walkways, including bridges and overlooks encircle the site’s natural areas to allow visitors and guests the ability to experience nature up-close.
